BUSHENYI MUNICIPAL COUNCIL RESOLVES TO SACK THREE TOP OFFICERS

Bushenyi-Ishaka municipal council has resolved to interdict three of their staff over systemic corruption.
During the council meeting that sat at Municipal council hall yesterday, councilors resolved to interdict Deus Baingana; municipal Engineer, Jack Muhwezi; treasurer and Roberto; procurement officer.
The council chaired by Milton Kasibure anonymously voted to interdict the three officers on grounds of diverting Ug.sh.336m road funds to their personal dealings.
Roberto who is the procurement officer was the one responsible for awarding contracts where as Eng.Deus Baingana responsible for approving contractors to be paid. Muhwezi as the treasurer was to see if the right people were paid for work done.
The ug.sh.36m was meant for graveling 3kms on Liberation –Nyamiko road and more ug.sh.36m for Ruhandagazi-Kakanju road whereas ug.sh.12m was allocated for renovating 1km on Basajja-Buramba road.
The balance was meant for completing tarmac road to state Lodge in Bushenyi town and Basajja-Rwemirokora road in Ishaka town.
The money in question was received in first and second quarters in 2017-2018 financial year.
Eng.Baingana has since failed to account for the money despite several requests by the municipal council.
The area residents led by Apollo Kakonge of Western Ankole civil society forum on Tuesday March 6, 2018 arrested Eng.Deus Baingana and handed him over to police. He spent one night in Bushenyi police station cells until yesterday when he was released on bond.
The town clerk;Edward Kiwanuka is the one responsible for interdicting the three officers. If e fails to effect the interdiction, the council will punish him accordingly.
