FDC’S MUZANIRA NOMINATED, PALALYZES RUKUNGIRI

The Opposition Forum for Democratic Change party candidate Betty
Muzanira has been dully nominated to run for the Rukungiri district
parliamentary seat by-election.
Accompanied by former party president col. Dr Kiiza Besigye,
Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, Elias Lukwago, Ingrid Turinawe and among other party officials, Muzanira found fitting to contest by the electoral
commission.

She was dully nominated at 10am followed by the Independent former
Rukungiri woman MP Ms Prisca Sezi Mbaguta.
After nomination, Betty Muzanira thronged the Rukungiri Municipality
main stadium with thousands of FDC supporters to complete the
nomination process.
She is expected to race against seven others who include NRM’s Winfred Masiko, PPP and independent candidates.
Speaking to our reporter last night, the new Rukungiri District
returning officer; Umar Kiyimba said 7 aspirants picked nomination
forms.

Kiyimba added that the ruling NRM’s candidate Winfred Masiko will be
nominated on May 4th .Other candidates who had picked nomination forms by Wednesday morning
include Ms Elizabeth Kyoshaba, Ms Sheila Atukunda Kirebete, Ms Fabith Kukundakwe of Peoples’ progressive party, and Ms Elizabeth
Rwakitonera.
He cautioned the aspiring candidates not to move with crowds when
going for nomination saying they are allowed to come with two vehicles
with at least 10 supporters.
Campaign meetings will be held for a period of twenty six days from
4th May to 29th May 2018.
Voting for the MP will take place on Thursday May 31st, 2018 at all
280 polling stations in Rukungiri District.
It will start at 7am and end at 4pm.
