LIGHTENING KILLS ONE, TWO IN CRITICAL CONDITION

One person has died on spot while two children were seriously injured after being struck by lightning in Bugambe sub-county, Hoima district on Tuesday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Tophil Bonani aged 33-years, a resident of Nyamulima village in Katanga parish, Bugambe Sub County, Hoima district.
The injured are identified as Precious Katusabe an 11-year-old girl and another one only identified as Ainembabazi who are admitted at Kyakirube health Centre II in Bugambe Sub-county.
James Bigirwa, the Nyamulima village chairman said thunderbolt struck as eight people were taking a shelter from the afternoon showers.
Bigirwa told www.mknewslink.com that the two children were found lying helpless in the compound while five others only experienced some shock and are now fine.
Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police Spokesperson regrets the incident but advises the public to be extra careful by switching off all electronic gadgets when it is raining.
Johnson Katusiime, the area district male councilor however cautions the public to plant trees around their homes in order to minimize the danger posed by lightning.
In October last year, lightning killed four school children and injured five others at St Prisca Primary School in Hoima municipality while in September, over 20 pupils from Kifuumura primary school Buhanika sub-county were hospitalized after lightning struck their school.
