PIBID URGES STAKE HOLDERS TO SUPPORT KIREKA SCHOOL OF SPECIAL NEEDS

The Presidential Initiative on Banana Industrial Development (PIBID) and Uganda Industrial Research Institute (UIRI) have given TOOKE products to pupils of Kireka Home for Children with special needs as a measure of giving back to the public.
This was during the celebration of Public Accountability Week by the Government of Uganda under the ministry of Science and Technology and innovations at the Kololo Grounds Kampala. The function was under the theme; 7th Africa Public Service Accountability.
According to Mr. Owori the head teacher Kireka Home of Children with special Education needs, has an enrollment of 87 physically and mentally impaired pupils.
He noted that many homes do not budget for children with special needs and that there is still low enrollment because even the biological parents have negative attitude to their own children just because they are physically handicapped.
Joseph Matovu, the Director Business & Enterprise development, PIBID who represented the Executive Director felt extremely touched when he saw the children and how much the teachers have to invest in so as to make good out of the children.
He thus pledged that indeed PIBID will c to support come back to the school quite often and will also invite other partners so as to ensure that these children are not left behind.
The Manager Marketing and Sales, Mr. Martin Ssali noted that giving back to this special community is a great opportunity for the children since some of the children are intellectually impaired and also suffer from nutritional related ailments.
He therefore called upon other partners in Government to emulate PIBID to come out and support children and also bridge the gap of Children with disability who are discriminated in most societies.
The CSR visit was concluded with PIBID team handing over a range of TOOKE products to the school and the children which included; TOOKE Biscuits, TOOKE Porridge flour, Mega milk, cakes and packages of Juice.
