NWSC COMMISSIONS RUHUMURO WATER PROJECT

National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) yesterday Aug 20, 2018 launched a Water project in Ruhumuro Sub-county, Igara East Bushenyi District.
While Adressing the gathering at the subcounty headquarters, Eng.Dr.Silver Mugisha, the Managing Director of NWSC said that effectively this week, National Water will extend about 5kms of water in first phase to Burungira, Bugara and Nyeibingo parishes which are badly off.
He added that they will do this every year until the whole sub-county has benefited from the project worth Shs.200 million.
Eng.Dr.Silver Mugisha also contributed Shs.10 million towards the completion of Ruhumuro Subcounty headquarters.
Mugisha requested the sub-county officials to open up a water office at their headquarters for easy supply of water in this area.
He added that where necessary, solar panels shall be used to extend water to all areas in the country by 2021.
The Chief Guest Mr.Jaffari Bassajabalaba thanked Eng.Dr.Silver Mugisha for the continued love and support towards development of Bushenyi district and other areas.
He said that he respects the appointing authority (voters) for entrusting him with their support.
He advised the citizens to utilize this project since it’s not individual based, he told the gathering to know that this water is for all therefore nobody should deny them a chance to use clean water.
Chairman LC3 Ruhumuro Mr.John Tumuhaise noted that people of his area have been walking up to 3km to fetch water from the wells and swamps which could hinder other works.
He said that over 1500 people from Ruhumuro wrote letters requesting the District council to assist them talk to national water and give them clean and safe water but this came true today.
He thanked Eng.Dr.Silver Mugisha for bringing development in the area through the Bamugisha community welfare ltd.
Other dignitaries present were Councilor Grace Kyomugisha September, Parish and Village Chairmen, Sub-county councilors among others.
