In Bushenyi—
The Bushenyi RDC Peter Mugisha is set today to re-open the conflicted Bassabalaba Mosque in Bushenyi Ishaka Municipality.
According to sources, Mugisha is acting on orders of President Yoweri Museveni who was in the district on Sarturday last week.
It is reported that a group of Muslim members met with the president showing their dissatisfaction with the closure of the mosque for almost seven months.
The following day on Sunday, the president sent a team from state house that met Muslims and reported back to him thus resolving that it should be re-opened without any delay.
Since Wednesday 24th January, the mosque has been under the protection of military police officers denying Muslims access but they have been ordered to vanquish the place effective today.
The mosque was demolished by unknown thugs on January, 24 during a saga of overthrowing the district Kaadhi, Sheikh Mubarak Kateinama and his council accusing them of peddling Islam faith in Bushenyi and arranging deals to grab land belonging to the mosque which house Basajjabalaba primary and secondary schools and a washing bay.
Muslims also accused Sheikh Kateinama of failing to safeguard Uganda Muslim Supreme Council assets, fuelling disagreements among Muslims, renting district Kadhi’s premises and plotting a deal to steal property and land belonging to Muslims.
A section of Muslims resolved that Sheikh Katainama and members of the council who include; his deputy Sheikh Adam Nsubuga, Abdu Maaso, Adam Semugabe and Kiyimba be sacked.
This prompted the Mufti of Uganda His Eminence Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubajje to issue a notice temporarily closing the mosque as the wrangles deepened in prevention of bloodshed.
