Rwampara district FDC chairperson Wilberforce Ahimbisibwe Ongomu has expressed concern over the continued habit of hand-picking party flag bearers by party secretariat in some districts of western Uganda.
Ongomu while speaking to www.mknewslink.com reporter in a phone interview today 1st, Oct, 2020 stressed that in some constituencies like Sheema north and Sheema municipality the party officials led by the secretary general and the party vice chairperson western Uganda used hand-picking criteria instead of letting aspirant candidates participate democratically via FDC party electoral colleges hence choosing the rightful flag bearers.
Ongomu noted that the party issued out expression of interest forms for aspirant candidates on different political seats but surprisingly in some constituencies like Sheema north, some aspiring candidates were turned down over unclear reasons.
“Our party Secretariat is now infiltrated with the hand of the ruling government, aspiring candidates in Sheema north and Sheema municipality must petition Courts of law over this issue,” he added.
Meanwhile, Ongomu noted that the National electoral commission didn’t not engage voters in Civic education before the NRM primaries that were conducted recently in the whole country a thing he alleges was intended.
Wilberforce Ahimbisibwe Ongomu will be contesting for Rwampara East parliamentary seat where he will be facing the NRM flag bearer and the incumbent Hon.Ngabirano Charles and Julius Karuhanga an independent candidate.
