Following the Tuesday demonstration by Nyakabirizi division residents and civil society activists over poor state of road, the municipal town clerk Edward Kiwanuka has refuted allegations that he was in hiding from demonstrators who have been hunting for him.
In a telephone interview with www.mknewslink.com , Kiwanuka said that he was summoned to Kampala on the fateful day by his bosses at the ministry of local government noting that he was not hiding from demonstrators.
Demonstrators led by the speaker Nyakabirizi division Mackay Twijukye and West Ankole Civil Society Forum CEO Apollo Kakonge on Tuesday stormed municipality offices hunting for the town clerk over the poor state of Katungu -Nyamiko road.
However, the town clerk said that the road is still under construction thus calling for calmness among the residents. Kiwanuka noted that they are still waiting for sunshine to work on the road in question.
On Tuesday and Wednesday neither the town clerk nor his deputy was in office.
On meeting the demonstrators, the town clerk noted that he is not afraid of them noting that he is very much willing to meet them as soon as possible.
