ANKOLE WESTERN UNIVERSITY STRUGGLES WITH 2.5 BILLION DEBT

The board of education at west ankole diocese has shockingly learnt that Ankole western university is indebted to the tune of 2.5billion.

The committee which sat before Christmas was told that the debts are clue from Uganda Revenue Authority,National Social Security Fund and bank loans.

URA had five month back confiscated the university bus for three weeks until they agreed on payment plan which the university failed to fulfill.

As one way of rescuing the university, the management has organized a fundraising in February to stop the university from being closed by the creditors.

The worst scenario is that Ankole western university has failed to attract students in some of the courses such as diploma in mass communication which has drastically reduced the number of students worsening the situation.

In addition, the university is now independent and no longer affiliated to Uganda Christian University Mukono which has been an added advantage to Ankole western University project
