ANTHRAX DISEASE CONFIRMED IN KYEIZOOBA BUSHENYI DISTRICT

IN BUSHENYI DISTRICT——

Anthrax, a very dangerous disease has been confirmed in Kitagata parish Kyeizooba sub-county Bushenyi district.

According to the RDC of the above district, following confirmation of Anthrax in Kafunjo village, he immediately called a meeting of stakeholders and shared views on how to finish off the disease.

The meeting was attended by political and civil leaders from kyeizooba sub-county as well as from district headquarters.

Staff from district health department told the meeting that according to blood samples that came back from Entebbe government laboratory confirmed that one person died of anthrax, another natural death and the other survived.

RDC Robert Atuhairwe added that the affected family ate a dead cow from that affected village of Kafunjo.

He told www.mknewslink.com MD that among the resolutions passed in today Friday Afternoon meeting was to visit the area as top district and sub-county leaders soonest and meet Kafunjo residents and discuss head on.

He noted that they resolved to continue fighting eating of dead animals in the district and seriously arrest whoever does so.

The sub-county chairman for Kyeizooba Mr. Bakikunde told www.mknewslink.com that there are two animal traders  from Bugongi town council in Sheema district; Kiyonga and Zego who sell dead meat in Kyeizooba sub-county.
