A motor vehicle belonging to Masindi district production department has been allegedly locked for suspected misuse.
The gray double cabin vehicle Reg. No UBE 667Q was allegedly locked on 4th Nov.2019 evening at Miramura Primary school in Bwijanga sub county, Masindi district while being used to distribute Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) papers.
Israel Tinkamanyire, the driver of the vehicle told our reporter that the vehicle was deployed to distribute the exams in Bujenje County but its engine failed to start after distributing afternoon papers and it was parked at the school until 9pm.
www.mknewslink.com learnt that the vehicle that was given to the district by the ministry of agriculture to enhance agricultural extension services in the district is restricted to production sector work and is monitored by the ministry.
It is therefore suspected that it was locked by the ministry of agriculture after being seen involved in other work different from those it was offered to do.
Efforts to get a comment from the district chief administrative officer (CAO) John Nyakahuma on the matter were futile as he could not be reached.
The district chairperson Cosmas Byaruhanga however confirmed the reports when contacted and expressed fear the act will hamper the PLE exercise in the district since it is one of the few vehicles that had been deployed to distribute the examination papers.
Recently, Cosmas rejected the vehicle in question when the CAO’s office offered it to him following mechanical problems his (vehicle) developed.
He is now days seen moving in a personal vehicle.
