The archbishop of the church of Uganda Stanly Ntagali today afternoon revealed that he had forgiven the six canons and five Christians who took him to court last month accusing him of assuming the Episcopal jurisdiction over west Ankole diocese after retirement of Bishop Yona Katoneene on Oct. 02, 2016.

While preaching in service held at Bugongi secondary school in Bugongi archdeaconry, Ntagali without mincing words noted that what the canons did was unheard of in the history of church of Uganda and at worst was against a resolution passed by provincial assembly in August this year.

“I want to ask you Christians of Sheema, can your district councilors take president Museveni to courts of law that he has no powers over sheeema district?’’

“I appointed the eight commissaries following the constitution of west Ankole diocese therefore it was uncalled for the canons to go to court” Ntagali said.

He attacked that canons who took him to court as retarded Christians who need intensive prayers.

A case filed by the canons was dismissed with costs yesterday after mediation approach collapsed on Nov. 07, 2016, a day before judgment.

“Am here to exercise my powers given to me by the constitution of the province of the church of Uganda. Rev. Canon Arthur Atwiine has been a caretaker Bishop by court but since yesterday 5:00pm all that was cleared.

He noted that he confirmed 657 the highest number of people into Christianity since he became bishop/archbishop 11 years ago. He headed to Masheruka in Sheema North in the afternoon to confirm other people into Christianity.

Tomorrow and Friday will be in Kabwohe archdeaconry and Ankole western university preside over graduation ceremony at the institution.

Since 2012, a big section of Christians from Sheema district rejected the then Bishop Katoneene and stopped him from accessing the district and doing pastoral work. There were no confirmations into Christianity among other services.
