BENON KARYAIJA 7-YEAR-OLD CENSURE CASE: CHIEF JUSTICE PROMISES TO HANDLE

The chief justice of Uganda His Lordship Owiny Dollo has promised to handle a seven-year-old case filed by the Mitooma District chairman Benon Karyeija which has been lying in the court of appeal.
The Chief justice said this in the exclusive interview with www.mknewslink.com Managing Editor after concluding a visit to Greater Bushenyi Magisterial area.
Earlier in a stake holders meeting held at the court premises, in the Bushenyi district chairman’s communication, he raised the matter that was not answered by the chief justice.
Mitooma district chairman Bennon Karyaija was censured in 2017 and run to high court, later court of appeal but upto now now the case has never been decided.
“I have taken a note of the case in the court of appeal and I will follow it up” chief justice told MK news link.com managing Editor.
The chief justice promised Bushenyi stakeholders that they have already approved a high court circuit for this financial year 2022/2023.
He noted that the budget for judiciary has been increased and therefore many grade 1 magistrates have been recruited to ease the backlog.
Stakeholder after stakeholder praised the current Chief magistrate Simon Toloko for being exemplarily professional at his duty station. They praised him for not being corrupt and respectful to District leaders, his staff among others.
He called upon judicial officers to be free with the public to stop being bossy and allow the public to interact with the public freely and avoid the colonial mentality for being unreachable.
