BISHOP COMBONI COLLEGE KANUNGU HM DIES MYSTERIOUSLY, INVESTIGATIONS BEGIN

Residents in Kanungu District are in shock after learning of the tragic passing of Brother Kato John Bosco, the 56-year-old head teacher of Bishop Comboni College Kambuga and a resident of Nyakatunguru Cell in Northern Ward, Kambuga Town Council, Kanungu District.
The incident unfolded on August 15, 2023, around 2:30 pm.
Brother Kato, accompanied by his nephew Tunanukye Innocent and other students, embarked on a journey to Rukiri Sub County, Ibanda District, to celebrate the inauguration of a new house. Unfortunately, as they reached the Omunengo area, between Rukungiri and Kanungu districts, Brother Kato’s condition deteriorated.
He had to stop driving due to his illness and moved from the driver’s seat to the passenger seat. Soon, he began to vomit and lost consciousness. Realizing the seriousness of the situation, they sought the help of a bodaboda rider to transport them to Nyakibale Hospital. Tragically, en route, Brother Kato passed away in Rwerere Town Council.
The lifeless body was transported to Nyakibale Hospital mortuary. George Byoruganda, the deputy head teacher of Bishop Comboni College, reported the sudden demise to Rukungiri Central Police Station.
Elly Maate, the spokesperson for Kigezi Region Police, confirmed this information during a press briefing. Statements were recorded from George and other witnesses.
Maate added that the body of the deceased is awaiting postmortem examination at Karoli Lwanga Hospital, Nyakibaale, in order to determine the cause of death.
Police inquiries are ongoing, and the case of Brother Kato John Bosco’s sudden death has been officially registered at Rukungiri District Police Station under the reference number SD REF:43/15/08/2023.
