BISHOP JOHNSON FINALLY RESPONDS TO NATIONAL WATER THANKS GIVING AT BWERANYANGI CATHEDRAL
Beloved,
Take heart….muhuumure….!
I heartily appreciate most of your views and the implied sentiments therein. Mwebare!
Remember, however, that it pleases God when, as Christians, we don’t behave like proponents of religious hatred and divisionism, but as true agents of love and peace.
Eshaara ei turikushoma buri Sunday ey’obusingye neetandika eti:
Ai Ruhanga nitukusiima ahabw’okuba niiwe oreeta obusingye, kandi oyenda abantu boona kubakundana”!
Our diocesan echo is actually a prayer for love and unity. It’s first stanza goes:
Ai Ruhanga Nyamuhanga,
Rinda West Ankole yaitu;
Twegyes’okukundana, nk’oku watukunzire;
Tukunde abantu boona, turekye okutondana.
God commands us to love one another (John 15:12 and 17). The parable of the good Samaritan (Lk. 10:25-37) is about neighborly love.
Also, in all this, what we are promoting is coexistence and comradeship as ‘catholic’ Christians, not a form of doctrinal or ecclesiastical fusion.
Please know that the COU agreed to, and so is under the umbrella of, ecumenical brotherhood as a member of Uganda Joint Christian Council (UJCC) and Inter Religious Council of Uganda (IRCU).
What we are doing is in total harmony with those perimeters, but we know our scope or limits.
Finally, don’t mix up issues. My person as Bishop is neither partisan nor apolitical.
When time comes for choosing our political leaders, we’ll be guided by our standards as a non partisan institution. Voting is always per the individual citizen’s choice and discretion.
Both before and in the aftermath of elections, my key advice is that whoever emerges the winner should serve ALL God’s people with a non discriminational equity.
Once again, muhuumure! Do not fight or abuse any other any more! Walk, talk, debate, discuss…but constructively,
respectfully, and in a warm spirit of *love* *that* *unites*!
Otherwise, we welcome you to the installation function of our beloved Dean of St. Peter’s Cathedral, The Very Rev. Canon Wilson Tumuhairwe, and to the seating of the Deanery Head of Laity, Mr. Katwarana Anthony, on the 24th of February, 2019, beginning at 10:00 am.
We love you all!
Blessings!
Rt. Rev. Johnson Twinomujuni, WAD.
