The Bishop of West Ankole diocese Rt. Rev. Johnson Twinomujuni has warned teachers against helping children to cheat exams.
Bishop Twinomujuni made the remarks yesterday during a dedication service for P7 candidates of Bweranyangyi Junior School held at St. Peter’s Cathedral Bweranyangyi C.O.U.
The Bishop said that some teachers cheat exams for children adding that it is for this reason that government is full of corrupt and incompetent officials.
“Banyankole say; Owiiba ahekire abanoyorekyerera owahamugongo,” Bishop Twinomujuni said. Literally meaning that whoever steals with a child on his or her back is showing the child the way.
He added that such teachers will be disgraced and lose their dignity in future when they meet their incompetent products after they have failed to get jobs.
“It is quite absurd when your papers show that you got 1st class degree yet you can’t do anything practically,” Bishop added.
He therefore called upon all teachers across Ugandan schools to let children to do exams using their own knowledge in accordance to what they are taught.
