Sheema Christians have written to the archbishop of the church of Uganda his grace Steven Kazimba Mugalu complaining about West Ankole Diocesan Bishop Johnson Twinomujuni for failure to take to the province the decision by the west ankole diocesan synod to create central Ankole diocese among other things.
The complaint letter written by lawyers of Otto Edward Makmot & Company advocates was received yesterday 6/6/2023 by one Appollo Kamwesiga on behalf of the C.O.U Provincial secretariat at 3:50pm.
Sheema Christians delivered a letter on the same day it was written.
Bishop Johnson confirmed to sheema Christians recently at St. Emmanuel archdeaconry Kabwohe that he never took west Ankole diocese synod resolution to the province to begin a process of establishing a diocese for sheema Christians.
He[Bishop] Johnson bragged on that day that if the sheema Christians want a diocese should beg him and give him the respect he deserves. He is the final decision maker.
Letter delivered to ArchBishop
After that confirmation that Bishop Johnson never took their resolution to the province of the church of Uganda, they decided to have plan B like this letter to the archbishop among others.
The quest for the diocese by the Christians of Sheema has resulted into severe conflicts and divisions in the diocese. Emeritus Bishop Katoneene was very popular but ended his tenure unpopular because of proposed Central Ankole diocese[CAD]
All Bishops; current and former don’t want to release Sheema Christians because they contribute over 40% of the income of west Ankole diocese. It has the highest number of archdeaconries and parishes. In short, it’s the biggest contributor to income of the diocese. Therefore, each Bishop of west Ankole diocese wants to keep gripped on the resources of the Christians of sheema.
