KABALE
The old students of Bishop Kivengere Girls School Muyebe have today delivered 160 chairs, the first batch of a donation totalling 260 chairs, to be used in the school’s Multipurpose Hall.
The chairs were received by the headteacher, Eunice Asiimwe Byomuhangi, who was accompanied by teachers and other alumni.
While delivering the 160 chairs at Bishop Kivengere Girls School Muyebe in Buhaara Sub County, Ndorwa East, Kabale District, Mrs. Mateeka Constance, who represents the alumni on the school board, stated that the alumni pledged these chairs during the school’s 50th-anniversary celebration. She highlighted that today marks the fulfillment of that pledge, with the first batch of 160 chairs being sent to the school.
Constance mentioned that the alumni collectively raised 26 million UGX to purchase the 260 chairs. This initiative aims to alleviate the inconvenience of students having to carry chairs from classrooms to the Multipurpose Hall.
She emphasized that the alumni association is committed to giving back to the school that played a significant role in shaping their lives.
The headteacher, Eunice Asiimwe Byomuhangi, expressed her gratitude to the alumni for their generous donation. She noted that the new chairs would greatly benefit the Multipurpose Hall, addressing a long-standing issue of chair shortages which forced students to move chairs from their classrooms to the hall.
OG Hon. Enid Origumisiriza Atuheire, the founder of the Hallelujah Counselling Centre, encouraged current students to remain focused on their education and maintain hope for their future success.
She urged the girls to set clear goals to help them achieve success in their endeavours.
Some of the students expressed their appreciation to the alumni for fulfilling their pledge made during the school’s 50th-anniversary celebration by providing the much-needed chairs.
