The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda Stephen Kazimba faces court over the appointment of Gad Akajuna as the Bishop of Kigezi diocese.
According to the petitioner Habasa Nelson, Bishop Akajuna’s consecration and appointment should be nullified alleging that he lacks the minimum academic qualifications to be a Bishop.
Habasa claims that Akajuna was appointed when he lacked a degree in theology or divinity or a post graduate diploma of theology or divinity.
“I and some Christians who think like me don’t have a problem with Rev Akajuna, why he was supply appointed by the church of Uganda and in this case he will only be a witness in court” Habasa added.
It is alleged that the Provincials assembly was recently conducted and some church of Uganda top leaders wanted to remove the close of academic qualifications from the canons but the majority objected.
It is alleged that they tried to serve Kazimba with the notice of intention to sue but his office declined to receive the documents.
