BISHOP STUART UNIVERSITY COMMEMORATES PROF.RUKARE

The senior Presidential Advisor on Economic Affairs, Professor Ephraim Kamuntu has implored all parents and guardians to educate their children if they are to have a better future.
Speaking as a Key Note speaker at a memorial service of the late Prof.Enock Rukare who was the first Vice Chancellor of Bishop Stuart University at its inception in 2002.
The service was held on Thursday at Bishop Stuart University in Kakoba , Mbarara city ,Kamuntu noted that the most precious will which parents can render to their children is only education.
Relatedly, The Rt.Rev.Dr.Fred Sheldon Mwesigwa the Bishop Ankole diocese who also doubles as the Chancellor Bishop Stuart university expressed concern with University graduates who do not live up to the task after being employed in companies and expect to get paid.
Bishop Sheldon is now calling upon the youth to show love and respect to the tasks given to them which he thinks it smoothens one’s work and Ensures good end results.
Speaking during the same service Professor Mauda Kamatenesi the Vice Chancellor Bishop Stuart University argued parents to be mentors of their children. Kamatenesi adds that some parents have forgotten their parenting role which has left morals of many children in a worrying State.
The function was also attended by the family of the late Professor Enock Rukare led by Mrs.Gwene Rukare the wife to the late professor ,and as a way of promoting education the family handed over a scholarship cheque worth Shs.50 million which will cater for unprevilleged students that intend to offer Education Course.
As one way of celebrating the achievements of Prof .Enock Rukare the university choose to have it’s 3rd.floor of University Main library named after the late Prof. Enock Rukare.
The function was part of the ongoing Bishop Stuart week that is under the theme celebrating 20 years of Generational Transformation of the community through holistic education.
BRIEF HISTORY ABOUT BISHOP STUART UNIVERSITY.
BSU Is named after Cyril Stuart who was the Anglican Bishop of Uganda in the middle of the 20th.BSU started operations in 2003 at the campus of then Kakoba National Teacher’s College (KNTC) in Western ugandan city of Mbarara.
KNTC ceased operations in at the end of 2005 ,and in 2006 ,BSU took over the premises and grounds previously occupied by the teacher’s College.
In 2006,BSU held it’s maiden graduation ceremony.
However ,the certificates, diplomas and degrees were awarded by Uganda Christian University.
The first batch of students to graduate on BSU letterheads were the graduates of 2009.
On the 10 .October.2014,at the University 10th.graduation ceremony,the then minister of Education and Sports Jessica Alupo announced that BSU had been cleared by Uganda National Council for Higher Education to receive a university charter. The charter was granted and delivered to the university in late October 2014.
The university has 5 facilities and 14 departments with an enrollment of over 5000 students.
