Fire has gutted two official vehicles for the Bishop of Masindi Kitara diocese George William Kasangaki.
The fire gutted the vehicles from the parking yesterday 2nd Oct 2019 evening at Bishop’s official residence in Masindi town partly destroying them.
The burnt vehicles include Toyota Pajero Reg.No UAV 907Y which was donated by president Museveni in 2013 and Pajero Reg.No UAL 378J.
According to the diocesan secretary Rev. Samuel Kwesiga, the fire was seen by the bishop’s house boy who saw smoke coming out of the vehicles informing neighbors and the diocese workers.
Rev. Kwesiga suspects the fire started from a motorcycle that had been parked between his vehicles hence spreading.
According to the DS the Bishop is outside the country for pastoral work.
He added that the members of the bishop’s family together with the neighbors managed to put off the fire from the vehicles but the motorcycle was burnt beyond recognition.
Masindi District Police Commander (DPC) Samuel Odongo confirmed the incident saying that police rushed to the scene after getting the information but found the fire had been put off.
He also said that investigations into the matter are ongoing to establish the cause of the fire.
