BOBI WINE, 33 ARUA VIOLENCE SUSPECTS APPLY FOR BAIL

Kyadondo East legislator Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine and 33 others arrested following the Arua Municipality by-election violence, are currently at Gulu High Court for hearing of their bail application.
Bobi Wine and the rest, notably; Arua Municipality MP-elect Kassiano Wadri, Paul Mwiru (Jinja East), Gerald Karuhanga (Ntungamo) and Mike Mabike (ex Makindye East MP) are facing treason.
The prosecution claims these, with intent to do harm to the person of President Yoweri Museveni, unlawfully aimed and threw stones, hitting and smashing the rear windscreen of the presidential car.
All the accused have today been paraded before Gulu High Court where the judge will decide whether to grant them bail.
Lawyers have to satisfy court that the suspects won’t escape the long arm of the law; have strong sureties; won’t interfere with the investigations and that they have a place of abode among other conditions.
Some of the politicians attending the hearing of the case include Dr Kizza Besigye, Norbert Mao, and Abdul Katuntu among others.
