BOBI WINE’s BROTHER FRED NYANZI JAILED OVER OTT TAX; REMANDED UNTIL TUESDAY

Former Kamwokya LC1 chairman, Fred Nyanzi Ssentamu, brother to Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine has been sent to Luzira prison over charges of the unlawful assembly during the social media and Mobile money protest last week.
They are reported to have marched from downtown Kampala, before being intercepted by Police and Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) enforcement officers near City Square. They were arrested and taken to jail.
The Buganda Road grade one Magistrate, Esther Nahirya, has now remanded Nyanzi and his two colleagues to Luzira Prison.
The trio also faces an alternative charge of inciting violence. The punishment for both offences is imprisonment for up to one year, upon conviction.
Furthermore, The accused were denied bail despite their lawyers, Richard Lumu and Luyimbaazi Nalukoola parading sureties for each of them.
Nyanzi and co-accused will be on remand until July 24 when they return to court for another hearing.
