In Kampala—
A number of Boda Boda riders in Kampala have this morning attacked and set on fire the Boda Boda 2010 offices whose patron; Abudallah Kitatta was arrested on Saturday for masterminding the death of Case Hospital accountant; Francis Ekulagar.
Kitatta is one of the 28 people the army says it arrested over the murder of Ekulagar about a fortnight ago.
Chanting Kitatta’s name, the furious Boda Boda riders early today attacked Boda Boda 2010 offices in Natete, Kampala and searched them before setting their property on fire.
They said they were happy that Kitatta and some of his accomplices were in custody because they had for long endured immeasurable suffering caused by members of the notorious Boda Boda 2010.
However, riot police and military officers dispersed the group and reportedly arrested some of them.
Ekalugar was kidnapped on Tuesday January 02, while on his way to the bank.
His body was later found burnt in Kajjansi on January 3. Now, the army says 28 suspects are in custody in connection with the incident. The arrests were as a result of joint operations between UPDF and sister security agencies.
Captain Deo Akiiki, the Deputy UPDF Spokesperson, said they conducted a joint operation on Friday following leads from inside sources. This led to the arrest of Huzairu Kiwalabye, one of the key suspects.
He said there were attempts by some sympathizers to obstruct the arrest, which was overcome by security. According to Captain Akiiki, after interrogating Kiwalabye, the investigators found the need to make further arrests and picked up 28 suspects including Abdul Kitata, a brother to Kiwalabye and head of boda boda 2010.
