A 33-year-old man in Hoima is demanding police to pay his hospital bills after he was brutalized by security officers on Monday evening.
According to Emmanuel Irumba, 33, a resident of Rusembe 1 Duhaga ward Kahoora division, he is nursing severe injuries he sustained on Monday evening when security officers lashed him with strokes to pulp.
Irumba explained that on the fateful day, it rained heavily in Hoima which delayed his return home thus he met the officers whom he is accusing of lack of humour at around 20 minutes to curfew hours.
He added that he met the officers near Eves restaurant along Butiaba-Kampala road and as he was avoiding them, he fell into a big trench lost his two teeth and sustained serious injuries in the face, ending up unconscious.
Bedridden Irumba has said that the Officer in-Charge at Hoima Central Police station ASP Tom Mpabaisi visited him at the hospital and pledged support in clearing bills but he has not seen anything.
The RDC Hoima who is also the head of security has revealed that the police standards unit is investigating the case adding that they are ready to charge any officer found guilty of the offence.
This is the third person logging complaints against security operatives imposing curfew directive in Hoima district.
