In Masindi—-
Jessy Byaruhanga the resident judge Masindi High Court has Thursday afternoon thrown Dinah Kasangaki the Buliisa district service commission chairperson out of the office.
This follows the case filed at Masindi High Court in May 2021 by Gilbert Tibasiima the district councilor representing Kigwera sub county challenging the appointment of Dinah Kasangaki as the Buliisa district service commission chairperson.
Kasangaki was appointed by Agaba Kinene Simon the former Buliisa district chairperson in March 2021. However, Tibasiima ran to Masindi High Court in May 2021 challenging her appointment on grounds that she wasn’t residing in the district as per the local government act.
In his ruling, Jessy Byaruhanga the Resident Judge Masindi High Court ruled that Kasangaki should vacate the office. He also directed the district chairperson to appoint the new district service commission chairperson.
According to the ruling, Kasangaki and Buliisa district will not pay the costs or damages incurred during the court session.
Speaking to our reporter at Masindi High Court after the ruling, Gilbert Tibasiima expressed his excitement after winning the case.
Tibasiima who also doubles as the vice chairperson Buliisa district asserted that they have spent over 15million Uganda shillings in this case.
Efforts to get a comment from Dinah Kasangaki was futile by press time since she didn’t appear at Masindi High Court and her known number wasn’t available.
