BULLETS, TEAR GAS ROCK FORT PORTAL AS AMURIAT CAMPAIGNS IN DISTRICT

Fort Portal Police on Tuesday afternoon fired teargas and rubber bullets to disperse supporters of Patrick Oboi Amuriat the FDC Presidential Candidate for defying the COVID 19 Guidelines.
Amuriat was traversing the country to solicit for votes ahead of the 14th January elections.
On his way to Kasenda Sub County in Kabarole district, Amuriat was intercepted at Rwaihamba with teargas to disperse his supporters who had gathered in large numbers which is against the electoral Commission COVID 19 guidelines.
The same incident happened at Bukwali, central division Fort Portal city as the presidential candidate was expected to address a rally at Bukwali kingdom Playground.
Police said the presidential candidate failed to adhere to their guidance and they could not sit back to watch the situation go out of hand.
Amuriat in his speech promised to promote discipline among police officers and increase their salaries.
