BUNYORO: CATTLE KEEPERS ACCUSE POLICE OF STEALING THEIR ANIMALS

This was disclosed yesterday by a section of cattle keepers during a meeting chaired by the Resident Commissioner RDC Buliisa held in Kigoya LC1 Village Kigoya Parish Buliisa Sub County Buliisa District.
The purpose of the meeting was to get up a mechanisms of combatting cattle theft in the district.
Simon Muhinya a pastoralist in Kigoya village said on several occasion once a suspect is arrested, they are being released any how thus accusing police for conniving with thieves to steal their animals.
Kaitare stivin another cattle keeper from Kigoya village blamed police for failing to help pastoralists though they are given references.
Sebasoka Stephen also another cattle keeper had to say the same above.
Muhangi Richard Kosan however accused one identified as Grace for always being behind to remove suspects from custody.
StevenĀ Kaitare also asked RDC to investigate Grace`s connivance with suspects.
John Mwahule the DPC Buliisa denied the allegation and asked for unity to curb the vice.
Longino Byagagaire Bahebwe the Resident District Commissioner RDC Buliisa however asked pastoralists to always have head count of their animals.
However, the Kigoya Parish LC2 Chairperson Mr. Abiri Watumbu challenged the community members to desist from theft and embrace Parish Development Model Prgram to relieve them from poverty.
