BUNYORO KING GAFABUSA DISSOLVES CABINATE, LUKUMU REPLACED

Bunyoro’s prime minister knfed
The Omukama of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom; Solomon Iguru Gafabusa has dissolved his entire cabinet and appointed Andrew Byakutaga, former commissioner customs at Uganda Revenue Authority as the new Kingdom Prime Minister.
Byakutaga has replaced Mr. Norman Lukumu who has served as the prime minister since March 2015.
In the reshuffle which was announced by Omukama’s Principle private
secretary; Richard Katahimbwa at Karuziika palace yesterday morning,
the Omukama also instituted three task forces comprised of seven
members mandated to develop a 30 year kingdom strategic development
plan.
Those appointed on the committees include Edgar Isingoma; a partner in KPMG a reputable Global audit firm as the chairman while Prof.Vincent
Bagire; a lecturer at Makerere University Business School (MUBS), Dr.
Silvestre Kugonza a lecturer at Uganda Management Institute, Dr. Fred
Muhumuza a lecturer of Economics at Makerere University, Abdul
Byakagaba a petroleum geologist and Patrick Byabakama Kaberenge as
members.
According to the communication, the committee has four months to set
up management structures and more others will be selected to handle
specific tasks.
Omukama also retired the chairman of the kingdom land board, Tadeo
Asaba. His majesty commended the retired kingdom officers for the work done saying he had not sacked them.
“The new Prime Minister is to work with the royal commission to
appoint new cabinet members after putting in place systems” reads part of the Omukama’s communication.
This comes after the king mid last year appointed a seven member royal
commission to oversee kingdom amidst serious allegations of
mismanagement of the institutions property including sale of Kinyara
Sugar factory shares and chunks of land among others.
