HOIMA:
Following the arrest of self-styled Prophet Denis Kintu of Empowerment City Church Hoima for flogging Christians, Rt. Hon. Andrew Byakutaga the Prime Minister of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom has condemned the act saying they shall not tolerate such in their territory.
Byakutaga who was addressing journalists Friday afternoon commended police for arresting the suspect and court for remanding him to Hoima Government Prison.
The Premier explained that most believers go to worship places due to challenges saying it’s not lawful to flog them in the name of miracles.
‘’We shall not tolerate such acts in the Kingdom, people are not supposed to be whipped in the name of miracle,’’ he condemned.
According to Byakutaga, such people have their own motives, something he said the church should desist from since tarnishes the image of the church.
On Thursday, The Grade One Magistrate, Elijah Iradukunda charged self-styled Prophet Kintu with 17 accounts of human trafficking, extortion, assault, promoting sectarianism and others.
The self-proclaimed prophet was also implicated in causing body harm which is contrary to Section 238 of the Penal Code Act.
Kintu will reappear before court on 07th September 2022 when his case comes up for mention again.
