HOIMA:
Rt. Hon. Andrew Byakutaga the Prime Minister of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom has disclosed that they will not give space for the secession of Bagungu from the Kingdom.
Addressing the press on Friday at the Kingdom’s headquarters, Byakutaga blamed the politicians for spearheading the secession saying they have their own interests, something he said they fight against.
‘’In the history of Kingdoms, there has never been a cultural leader in Bugungu, therefore we shall not give them space to secede from the Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom,’’ he roared.
The premier further noted that since there is oil exploration in the region, this is the right time to unite and develop the Kingdom rather than seceding.
Byakutaga also refuted the claims that the Kingdom has neglected the Bagungu saying they are being included in programs.
He also said that many students from Buliisa have benefitted from the Kingdom’s programs including scholarships, oil and gas training and others.
‘’We have Kingdom representatives from Buliisa from parish level, we have not neglected the Bagungu, they are part of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom,’’ Byakutaga said.
The Premier also disclosed that the current cabinet has five ministers from the oil rich Buliisa district and they are Hon. Nyendwoha Mutiti First Deputy Prime Minister, Hon. Dinah Kasangaki Minister for Gender, Hon. Philip Katahoire Minister for Diaspora, Hon. Jackson Byaruhanga Minister for Natural Resources, Hon, Wahidi Wilson Minister for Productions, Buliisa has been well represented.
The Premier also disclosed that they have never received any petition in the Kingdom Parliament {Orukurato} regarding the challenges Bagungu are facing adding that those pushing for the secession have their own intentions.
