BUSHENYI: BUNYARIGI P/S OVERWHELMED BY PUPILS AMIDST LIMITED RESOURCES

Bunyarigi Primary School in Central division Bushenyi Ishaka municipality Bushenyi district has been overwhelmed by large numbers of pupils.
The school is currently struggling with congestion after receiving a total of 826 pupils this term with an increase from 600 they had before COVID19.
Ms. Shallot Asiimwe the Head teacher of the school told www.mknewslink.com reporter that they have divided pupils into streams and each stream has 60_80 pupils.
According to Asiimwe, the congestion has forced teachers to vacate their staff room and are now taking breakfast under the tree in the compound.
She added that the school has only 140 seats which are currently shared by all the 826 pupils.
Asiimwe further noted that 426 boys use only one four stance VIP latrine thus calling upon the government for an immediate intervention to save the situation.
Meanwhile, the Bushenyi -Ishaka municipality mayor Richard Byaruhanga intimated to www.mknewslink.com that the school has acquired loan from a financial institution to start the construction of the classroom.
He also revealed that as a municipality, they are looking for more funds to support the school.
