The Bushenyi district chief executive officer (CAO) Mr. Elias Byamungu has attributed the delayed retirement process of civil servants to lack of seriousness in public service.
Mknewslink.com learnt that many civil servants in Bushenyi who apply for retirement are often ignored by authorities even when they have got requirements. Some of the victims said that they have instead been accused of abscondment from service. Over 100 retirement cases have been hanging un attended in the CAO’s offices.
Speaking to www.mknewslink.com today in an exclusive phone interview, the CAO noted that those who seek retirement should apply 6 months before the actual time but some wait for the last hour and then apply.
He added that even those who apply in time become lazy that they do not follow up their documents to make sure they are handled.
However, he blamed the public service, saying that when papers for retirement are handed over to them, they sometimes handle these papers negligently.
Byamungu however, assured this reporter that so far 60 of the cases have been dealt with and almost 40 are remaining but hopes to also tackle them as soon as possible.
