BUSHENYI DISTRICT, SUB COUNTIES ALLOCATE 1% COMMITMENT TO YOUTH FRIENDLY SERVICES

Bushenyi local government, sub-counties, town councils and Bushenyi Ishaka Municipality on Wednesday 24, started implementing a commitment of one percent from the budget of 2018/2019 financial year to support youth friendly services at health facilities located in their areas.
This was revealed by the advocacy coordinate Reproductive Health Uganda Lydia Mukombe at a half day work shop held at Katungu mothers union hall to assess the progress of their last year commitment.
Bushenyi local government leaders from nine sub counties, four town councils and Bushenyi Ishaka municipality in the financial year 2017/2018 committed themselves to allocate one percent of collected local revenue to finance youth friendly services.
The workshop was attended by sub county chairpersons, sub county chiefs, Town Clerks, health workers and key district stakeholders from Bushenyi local government.
The benefiting sub counties are; Kyabugimbi, Kakanju, Kyeizooba, Nyabubare, Bumbaire, Ibaare, Kyamuhunga and Ruhumuro.
The town councils include; Rwentuuha, Kyamuhunga, Kizinda, Bitooma and Bushenyi- Ishaka municipality.
Henry Wasswa the Reproductive Health coordinator for greater Bushenyi, noted that the one percent of the local revenue collected at the district and sub counties is delivered to health centers and used in youth friendly services like adolescent and sexual reproductive health, family planning among others.
The meeting was aimed at following up and developing the district action plan to support youth friendly services.
