BUSHENYI GOLD MINER SHOT DEAD

Police in Bushenyi are investigating circumstances under which a man was allegedly shot dead by a security guard.

The deceased has been identified as Robert Oweyesigire a resident of Nyakatembe 1 cell, Kibazi parish Kyamuhunga sub-county Bushenyi district.

It’s alleged that on 02/01/2023 at unspecified time in the night, the deceased went with three others to mine Gold in the wetland of Kabasharira Richard in Ryabagaju cell Mashonga Kyamuhunga subcounty Bushenyi district.

According to Martial Tumusiime the greater Bushenyi police spokesperson, the four were seen by the security guard who shot twice at them killing Oweyesigire on the spot.

Tumusiime narrated that the body was seen late in evening on 03/01/23 and reported at Mashonga police post and later taken to Comboni hospital pending postmortem.

The security guard has been arrested to help in investigation.
