In Bushenyi—
The Bushenyi Health Centre IV acting in-charge Peter Yekka has expressed concern over lack of maternity ward for C- section mothers.
He said this limits the number of pregnant mothers operated every day since they do not have space where to admit mothers after operations.
He added that women who deliver by caesarean section are required to keep clean all the time to avoid infections but this cannot be achieved given the congestion situation at the maternity ward.
Dr. Peter Yekka said these today 29th Sept.2021 while receiving new theatre equipment worth 80 million shillings donated to health facility by the government of United States of America (USA) through USAID.
The equipment received include a surgical operating table, a Saxon machine, an autoclave -sterilizer, a refrigerator for blood storage, infant warmer, air conditioners, theatre operating light among others.
The theatre which was constructed in 2005 became operational in May 2021 after 6 years of redundancy.
Meanwhile, Bushenyi -Ishaka municipal mayor Richard Byaruhanga wants the health Centre upgraded to a district hospital since it is well situated.
He explained that the health Centre is in the middle of the town, along the road and surrounded by district headquarters, municipality offices thus it qualifies for a hospital level.
Edward Bitarakwate the country director EGPAF/Chief of party USAID Rhites SW, pledged that since they are now done with the laboratory expansion, they look forward to funding the construction of a new maternity ward worth 231millions.
He called upon stakeholders to use the opportunity to lobby more medical stores to increase quality service delivery for the mothers.
The occasion was honored by deputy district chairperson Mr. Peter Mugume and Deputy RDC Loy Namara who promised to work hand in hand and monitor well the new equipment that have been donated.
