BUSHENYI HC IV HAS HAD CONDEMNED PUBLIC LATRINE FOR 4 YEARS

Bushenyi health Centre IV located in Bushenyi Ishaka municipality bushenyi district has had a condemned public latrine for four years therefore patients and workers seek refuge in a mini latrine.
During a visit by the minister of local government Raphael Magyezi and technical staff from Bushenyi -Ishaka municipality on Wed. 14th July 2021, it was revealed that the staff and patients have not had a latrine for the last four years after the old one was condemned.
On the condemned latrine, the minister become extremely concerned, called the town clerk and mayor closer and told them that it is impossible for Bushenyi health Centre IV to continue not having an operating latrine.
The minister directed the mayor Richard Byaruhanga and deputy town clerk Didas Muhanguzi who had represented the town clerk, to use 70% of DDEG money received by the municipality to build a pit latrine at the health facility soonest.
The staff patients and caretakers have been using a small emergency latrine.
Bushenyi health Centre IV was constructed in 1935 and most of the building are dilapidated however recently USAID rights rehabilitated the outpatients building and they are sourcing for more funding to rehabilitate other buildings.
In 2015, the Japanese embassy gave a grant of 200m to construct a theater at the health Centre, it was constructed successfully but till now, it has never functioned.
The acting in charge peter Yekka told the minister that they only lack a 200 million shillings anaethesia machine to fully start operating on patients, mothers among others.
