BUSHENYI HIGH COURT SENTENCES 27 YEARS OLD TO SEVEN YEARS IN PRISON

High court in Bushenyi has today sentenced a 27 year old man to seven years imprisonment over charges of man slaughter.
Court presided over by the Mbarara resident judge Joyce Kavuma heard that on 27th April 2013 ,Tumwebaze Francis alias Kabwende while in a bar in Kazira katenga Mitooma district developed a disagreement with one Joseph Mukasa Balikuddembe hitting the latter to death.
It also heard the convict followed Joseph as he left the bar after the disagreement hitting him on the head with a stick which injured him, and was pronounced dead at the arrival on the nearby hospital.
Tumwebaze pleaded guilty and opted for plea bargaining, was convicted and sentenced to seven years in prison including five years on remand.
