Bushenyi Ishaka municipality has registered an increase in number of learners who reported for the first term in both secondary and primary.
Dan Mugyenyi the Bushenyi- Ishaka municipal Education Officer has attributed the increase to positive mindset by parents.
Mugyenyi noted that the schools that were at the verge of collapsing in 2020 are now overwhelmed by learners amidst the limited resources.
He cited out Irembeezi primary school which had 100 pupils but now has over 500 pupils, Kashenyi primary school had an enrollment of 80 but now has over 200 pupils and Bunyarigi that had 600 but now has over 850 pupils which he said is a great achievement towards Government schools.
He noted that parents have developed a positive mindset towards educating their children in nearby schools and some schools have also shown improvement in their academic performance which has given hope to parents.
Mugyenyi however revealed there is still a problem of limited facilities in almost all schools adding that as a municipality they are looking for all ways to support them.
