BUSHENYI JOINS THE COUNTRY TO MARK NATIONAL PHYSICAL ACTIVITY DAY

Bushenyi district local government on Sunday joined the rest of Ugandans to mark the national physical activity day held today Sunday 8th July 2018
Led by the Bushenyi resident district commissioner, district chairperson, Bushenyi lions club members and joined by Members of
Ishaka Adventist hospital, Reproductive health Uganda, Kampala international teaching hospital, the Bushenyi group practically walked almost 7 Kilometers from Bushenyi district headquarters up to Ishaka town.
Other participants included University and high school students, primary school pupils, boda boda cyclists, business fraternity, medics, and teachers among others.
The participants were later addressed on issues regarding proper nutrition, physical exercise and other forms of healthy lifestyle as means to eliminate Non-Communicable Diseases like Hypertension, Cancers and Diabetes.
Participants have also received free screening services for Heart diseases and HIV/Aids testing.
Nancy Nyamweyaka, the Bushenyi district local government nutrition focal person said that the day aimed at strengthening efforts in the prevention of Non-Communicable Diseases and to encourage the public especially businesswomen and men, government officers, office employees among others with white collar jobs to adopt physical activity as a routine.
Nancy said that the recently research conducted indicated that 2.2% of going primary school pupils have over nutrition.
