BUSHENYI LIGHTNING TRAGEDY: 5 KILLED, 25 HOSPITALIZED

Five people have been confirmed dead while 25 others nursing wounds after being stricken by lightening in Bushenyi today.
The OC CID bushenyi Bernard kivengeri has confirmed that the incident happened today noon in a heavy rainfall.
The deceased have been identified as Elisam Tayebwa 65, Innocent Atwemerire 18, shalot Tuhwerirwe 14, Nickson Atunkunda 13 and identified as son of kansime 15 years.
According to the chairman lcv Bushenyi Jafari Basajabalaba says the above mentioned people and other 20 who escaped unhurt were plucking tea leaves when the rain started they rushed to forestall it.
Basajabalaba has appealed to the public to always avoid being overcrowded when it is raining saying that many people tend to attract lightening.
According to the eye witness Robert Kansiime, they were all collecting shade after lightening he heard people crying and rushed there with cater vehicle found some people down in critical conditions appealing to tea shamber’s owners to install lightening conductors to save people’s lives.
However residents have condemned the incident appealing to government to help the deceased’s families and looking forward on how to install conductors in public places.
19 Casualties have been admitted at KIU and 6 at komboni hospital.
