Bushenyi Ishaka municipality councilors have petitioned Bushenyi Resident District Commissioner Jolly Tibemanya to come to their rescue of government land in central division.
In the council meeting today at Bushenyi Ishaka municipal council hall, councilors discovered that government land had been leased for over 10 years without informing them.
Councilors also noted that they suspect that land might have been sold.
This forced councilors to move a motion to go and meet the RDC to seek for guidance and on how to save their land.
Led by their speaker Milton Kasibure, councilors moved on foot about a kilometer to RDC’s office at the district headquarters.
By the time they reached at RDC’s office, he was not there but he was contacted on phone and he had to instruct his secretary to receive their petition and promised to respond to them as soon as possible.
Speaking to www.mknewslink.com, councilors said that they want the state house Anti corruption unit to come and investigate the matter before government land is taken.
The land in question is Kajurigo land and industrial park land which had 33 plots but currently has only 5 plots.
However when www.mknewslink.com reporter contacted Central Division Chairman Mr. Karuti Steven, he said that they went through right procedures.
He added that the lease was approved by Central Division council, executive and as well as technical guidance from deputy municipal town clerk Didas Muhanguzi and bills of quantities were made by municipal engineer Deus Baingana.
