BUSHENYI MUNICIPAL HEALTH INSPECTOR ARRESTED FOR SOLICITING 200,000= BRIBE

IN BUSHENYI—
Bushenyi police yesterday evening arrested Senior health Inspector for Bushenyi-Ishaka municipal council for allegedly soliciting a bribe of 200,000= from a land lady in Bushenyi town.
Mr. Steven Wamale was arrested after he received 100,000= as part payment from Ms Melon Akunda Betty, a land lady in Bushenyi town.
According to Ankunda, Senior Health inspector Wamale found her trying to construct a new pit-latrine after the old one got filled up, Wamale stopped her claiming that she did not have a suitable place to construct the pit latrine. He [wamale] suggested to the land lady that if she gave him 200,000=, he would allow her to construct wherever wanted.
Ankunda added that after that suggestion, Wamale started harassing her with phone calls and all sorts of threats. She decided to tell police and police arranged a trap which caught him yesterday.
The Greater Bushenyi region police spokes person SP Martial Tumusiime told journalists yesterday evening that police detectives recorded serial numbers of 100,000= shillings and gave the money to Ankunda and took cover, arrested Wamale immediately after receiving the money.
SP Tumusiime told www.mknewslink.com editor today afternoon that Wamale has been charged with bribery and will be taken to court soon.
The mayor Bushenyi-Ishaka municipal council Mr. Jackson Kamugasha on many occasion has always complained about Wamale for demanding bribes from residents.
The former town Clerk Deo Ndimo, transferred Wamale from the municipal headquarters to Nyakabirizi division in 2015 as a way of punishing him for taking a bribe still of 200,000= from a resident. He was however brought back to the municipal headquarters recently.
