In Bushenyi—
A Row has erupted between municipal officials and Nyakabirizi division speaker over the shoddy works at Nyamiko health centre III in Nyakabirizi Division Bushenyi- Ishaka municipality
It all started when the health centre build one and half year ago developed cracks on its floors, doors stolen and has become a hub for animals from neighbors. This is a facility meant to treat patients according to the divisional speaker Mackay Twijukye aka Magufuli said electric wires and meter boxes were all stolen.
He attributed all this to shoddy work by the contractor adding that it is the reason why the division refused to commission the health centre which was completed a year and half ago.
When www.mknewslink.com contacted the acting municipal town clerk, Fenard Katunda Mukuru, he confirmed the mess and said they contacted the contractor to re-do the work so as to be ready for commissioning soon.
Nyamiko health centre III was constructed a year and half ago by the money lobbied from central government by the then Bushenyi district chairman Willis Bashaasha. It’s total cost was 100 million.
Nyamiko health center III became a center of news both local and national after the contractor did shoddy works and then state house health monitoring team halted construction until the contractor collected the major mistakes he had made during construction but there still remained issues like cracks and even the facility was not put to use. It’s just abandoned.
Mr.Willis Bashaasha who lobbied the funds from the ministry finance told www.mknewslink.com reporter on phone today May 23, 2017 that “Doing Shoddy work at such a facility is a disappointment and still abandoning it is still bad enough. He appealed to Bushenyi-Ishaka municipal leaders to stop letting government down in its works to bring services closer to the people of Nyamiko and Nyakabirizi division”.
Mr. Bashaasha who is currently the director of manifesto implementation in president’s office noted that it’s regrettable that government is working hard to uplift the well being of the people of Uganda but leaders who should be at the fore front are letting it down and the people.
