Police in Bushenyi have today morning stopped the burial ceremony of Alex Nyangwoha of Kayanga Kyamuhunga subcounty Bushenyi district on allegations that the victim was murdered by the wife.
The wife of the late Nyangwoha was immediately arrested and taken to Bushenyi station on allegations of murdering her husband.
One of the relatives of the late Nyangwoha tipped off residents of Kayanga that before Nyangwoha died, the wife had beaten him in a fight which resulted into his death.
According to Banyankole Bakiiga culture, when a body is already out of the house for burial, it cannot be taken back into the house no matter what happens.
The Woman district councilor Kyamuhunga subcounty and Kyamuhunga town council Rosemary Fangule told www.mknewslink.com that police promised to come and take the body to Kitagata district hospital for a postmortem.
Fangule said that she witnessed the whole drama and is still at the burial ground waiting for police to pick the body.
Murders in greater Kyamuhunga subcounty have of recent been rampant; A PWDs councilor was raped before the assailants murdered her while in Bitooma. Two days later, a decomposing body of unidentified man was discovered in Kyamuhunga.
Today’s incident of the woman alleged to have murdered her husband is the third in just two weeks.
