BUSHENYI PRIMARY HEADTEACHERS REFUSE TO SUPPORT MILK PROGRAM SPONSORED BY NETHERLANDS

Primary school Head teachers in Bushenyi district have today disagreed with school milk program sponsored by the embassy of Netherlands in Uganda.
The School milk program under which parents are required to pay half of the money that is needed started in 2016 in Bushenyi district with few schools.
Heateachers who were gathered alongside school management committee chair persons at Bushenyi multipurpose hall for a sensitization meeting reasoned that efforts to extend this program to all schools in the district wont be a success.
They wondered how parents who have failed to pay school fees will afford to pay money for milk.
Anthlem Mugume, coordinator feeding program revealed that this program was introduced in Bushenyi after it was discovered that there is malnutrition in the district calling upon stake holders to embrace the program if the problem is to be overcame.
The Bushenyi district chairman Jaffari Bassajabalaba has expressed disappointment over headteachers failure to welcome the program which is meant to help pupils to study and perform very well.
He appealed to them to embrace the program as a way of fighting malnutrition which is still a challenge in Bushenyi though it is known to be ‘basket for all foods’.
