BUSHENYI RESEARCHERS FORUM SET CAMPAIGN TO FIGHT MALNUTRITION AMONGST CHILDREN

Bushenyi Researchers Forum a non-governmental Organization operating in Bushenyi district has started its campaign to sensitize people on early childhood development.

This program is being run in some Bushenyi district selected schools.

Parents, teachers and pupils are being sensitized on dangers of malnutrition and on how they can prevent it.

According to the research that was done by Bushenyi Researchers Forum organization, 46% of people living in Bushenyi district are stunted.

While teaching parents, teachers and pupils of Bumbaire P/S and Nsimbi Junior School all located in Bumbaire Sub county today, Dr.Kamukama Justus challenged parents who sell food staffs and leave nothing behind for their children to feed on where he gave an example of people who sell local food and buy for their children packed food which is not good for their health.

In his communication Mr.Mbeera Lawrence the Bushenyi Reseach Forum program Manager has assured the school heads that beneficiaries of this project are pupils and that organization is going to do whatever it can to make sure malnutrition is chased in Bushenyi district and to support.

Mr. Lucas Muhangi Finance and Administration Manager have also told the beneficiaries that the organization will provide seedlings to schools and parents such that they can get food to feed their children to curb the problem of malnutrition.

They have given Irish potatoes in all schools to pupils as the starting point of their journey.

Director of Nsimbi Junior School Mr.Nathan Musinguzi has welcomed the project in his school and all other heads of schools have done so.

So far four schools have been covered which include Kakoma P/S in Kizinda Town Council, Nyarurambi P/S in Igara West and other two Schools.
