Bushenyi woman Member of Parliament Annet Katusiime Mugisha has described teachers as special elites, and great influencers of change and development in the country.
Katusiime was speaking as the chief guest at the 19th Annual General meeting for Greater Bushenyi Teachers SACCO held at Bushenyi multipurpose hall on Saturday.
The woman MP who once served as a primary teacher for 20 years encouraged the teachers present to embrace saving culture and invest in their children for a better future.
“You must save, invest and harvest, therefore invest in your children, serve as role models to your students in class and community at large because you are valued,” She said.
The Sacco General manager Miss Abias Tusiime noted that the Sacco performed better in last financial year 2021 with 130million profits compared to previous years.
She attributed the good performance to the flexible, reliable and committed board plus staff members who have given their all to the SACCO’s works.
According to the Sacco chairman Kodoni Kafaaku, the Sacco serves all teachers from nursery level up to masters level across Bushenyi, Mitooma, Buhweju, Rubirizi and Sheema districts.
He added that the Sacco’s target is to mobilize all teachers at all levels to learn saving their money which can help their families and businesses grow faster.
According to the general report, Bushenyi Teachers Sacco has no big challenge with its debtors something that makes it unique and special because its system is automatic(immediately the salaries reach the account, they first deduct their amount) and therefore loans are paid in time.
The A.G.M was honored by the Bushenyi District Education Officer Saul Rwampororo, Bushenyi- Ishaka municipality commercial officer Hope Komujuni, head teachers and other delegates from SACCO branches.
