CANNIBALISM: MASINDI POLICE APPLIES FOR COURT ORDER TO EXHUME A CORPSE WHICH REFUSED TO BE EATEN

Police in Masindi district has applied for a court order to exhume the body of Charles Mugisa, the former LCI chairperson of Kyamaiso village Bwijanga in Masindi district.
The court order follows allegations that started circulating last week that the body of Mugisa who was buried in January this year was in the house of David Kyenkya, a resident of Kidalizo village after retrieving it from the grave with the motive of eating it.
The allegations had it that the body had refused to be eaten and had tasked Kyenkya to rebury it something which forced people from across the district to throng the decades home demanding for the exhuming of the body to ascertain whether the allegations are true or not.
Speaking to www.mknewslink.com in his office today, the Masindi district Police Commander, Samuel Odongo, confirmed the receipt of the allegation adding that police has put a team to secure a court order which will enable them ascertain whether the body is in the grave or not.
Odongo added that if police finds the body in the grave, the person who started the allegations will be arrested and charged noting that if they dont find it David Kyenkya who is being accused of disturbing the peace of the dead will be charged accordingly.
Odongo appealed to the residents of Masindi to remain calm explaining that by the end of this week they will have got the court order which will give them a way forward.
The DPC declined to divulge much on the whereabouts of David Kyenkyawho is believed to be in the hands of police saying that he is where he is and is safe. Kyenkya was whisked away by police yesterday after realizing that a mob was attempting to attack him.
