CANON MZEE BASHAASHA LOSES SIMPLE ELECTION FOR BAMUGISHA SACCO TO LOCAL TEACHER

Prominent Canon Mzee Bashaasah 80 years today morning 21st March 2023 lost an election of chairmanship for zonal of Bamugisha community sacco conducted at the sacco headquarters in St. Kaggwa Bushenyi district.

Canon Bashaasha was defeated by a local teacher Mr. Boaz Byarimpa 47 votes, canon Bashaasha 11 votes and Aryomuriwe Chrisbell 23 votes.

The votes were tallied by Hon Winnie Mbyemire the sacco manager. The presiding officer was Twahika Dennis a politician and a law student at Makerere University.

Bamugisha sacco started around 2020 purposely to help saving boxes in villages to be able to have where to keep their money in a safe environment.

This zonal election is composed of Bushenyi Ishaka municipality and kakanju sub county.

Canon Bashaasha has been in the elections since Obotte II era. At 80 he can’t realize that he is old enough to retire and seat and watch as an elder. He wants to participate himself in every election.

In an interview with www.mknewslink.com managing editor to the winner Mr. Boaz Byarimpa revealed that it is canon Bashaasha who convinced him at the voting center to buy more shares and contest for the seat.

Mr. Boaz wondered how Bashaasha decided to contest for the same seat. (was this changa changa of the UPC in the 80’s where he was a secretary general for UPC greater Bushenyi?).
